Tears Tell the Story of Me

Once upon a time
Far, far away
A man gave up on the world
And threw his life away
It wasn’t long ago
Or in some enchanted place
No, this Grimm fairy tale
Is written on my face
My story’s not a romance
Or a rise to fame
No, it’s an autobiography
Of a life gone down the drain
So if you like sad stories
And if you like to cry
Just look what’s happening beneath my eyes
And read between the lines
Woah, woah, tears tell the story of me
My failures and my sorrows and my misery
Just check out all my teardrops and then you’ll see
Tears tell the story of me
I don’t live in a castle
Surrounded by a moat
I live in the city
Where there isn’t any hope
So don’t look for a dragon
Or an evil queen
The villain is the whole damn world
For treating me so mean
Woah, woah, tears tell the story of me
My failures and my sorrows and my misery
Just check out all my teardrops and then you’ll see
Tears tell the story of me
I’ve lived this whole sad story
Without a single friend
Just look what’s dripping down my cheek
You’ll see it reads “the end”
Woe, woe is me
I’m in a Shakespeare tragedy
Oh, tears tell the story of me
So don’t look in the bookstore
Or the library
Tears tell the story of me
Yes, my tears tell the story of me
